(October 26, 2005) This view is near Vantage, Washington from an overlook on I-90 west. The main point of the overlook is to get an appreciation of the Columbia River Flood Basalt deposits that make up the Columbia River Gorge in this region. There are thicker Flood Basalt sections of the gorge further south and along the Washington-Oregon border, but this one was closer. This panoramic photo doesn't even come close to doing the size justice.
