After the fun at the dunes, we drove up to Dante's View at 5,475 feet above sea level, to look down upon the dry plain of Death Valley. Badwater is directly below Dante's View (lower center of photo). The valley floor is white because of the evaporite rocks of gypsum and halite. We headed back to base the next day. We enjoyed having our hot experience since we were later headed to Antarctica.
