My second duty station (after boot camp and A-school) in the Navy was to Port Hueneme, California. This was the homeport for the Naval Support Force Antarctica. I arrived in early May 1993 to begin any training for my one year Winter-Over deployment to Antarctica in October 1993. Port Hueneme, California is located west-northwest of Los Angeles, California. This made it easy to take a trip or two into L.A. to see things like the Hollywood sign.
