March 2003 is probably one of the busier winter months in Fairbanks because so much is going on. This year (2003) was even busier because due to the low snowfall in Anchorage, Alaska the Iditarod Sled Dog Race had to be restarted in Fairbanks for the first time ever. Kate and I went down to the starting line the day before the start and saw one of the teams at the hotel.
