July 9th was the first of two days dealing with effusive (lava) eruptions. These two days were led by Andy Harris, seen here on one of Mauna Ulu's lava flows. We were introduced to a few lava channels from the 1974 eruption of Mauna Ulu. We did some lava channel calculations to determine estimates on lava effusion rates.
