The final image is a cropped satellite image from the MODIS Terra platform taken on UTC date December 27, 2003 at 2100 UTC. This image was originally downloaded from the Goddard MODIS land rapid response sight run by the University of Maryland. In the image one can see two very large flat icebergs to the north of Ross Island. Mt. Erebus is the highest point in the central part of the island. McMurdo is located on the southernmost part of Ross Island, but is slightly obscured by some low clouds in the image.
