P1012887  [5 of 88]

A total listing of those buried in the National Cemetery as of March 1869. Of particular note are the burials of one man each from Alabama and Louisiana (Confederate States Army). These two were prisoners who happened to have been buried along side the Union dead. There are very few exceptions where individual Confederate soldiers have been buried in a National Cemetery, if this is not the only case. Most Confederate burials are usually in mass graves on the battlefields, or in local cemeteries nearby.
