After a nice calzone at a pizza joint in town, we continued a little further west on California State Route 203 then south on Lake Mary Road to check out the Mammoth Lakes Recreation area. At a point along the way, we got a great view to the northeast into Long Valley Caldera. The town of Mammoth Lakes is on the southwestern portion of the caldera.
