    Photos from a living history event at the Slaughter Pen Farm on the Fredericksburg, Virginia battlefield. The photos were taken on December 10, 2016.
  • 75th Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i Ceremony Photos
    Photos taken on December 7, 2016 on the 75th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawai'i. This attack propelled the U.S. into World War II. The photos are mainly from the ceremony at the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, around the time of the attack, but there are some photos from the United States Navy Memorial. The United States Navy Drill Team practice before their ceremony around the same time that day.

    Photos from Honor Flights that I and the family greeted as they arrived at Dulles International Airport, Reagan National Airport and the World War II Memorial in Virginia. These flights bring World War II veterans into Washington D.C. to see the World War II Memorial.

    The former site of Fort Runyon during the Civil War as part of the Defenses around Washington, DC. The photos were taken on September 11, 2016. The site is now a Boeing facility in Alexandria, Virginia.

  • Northern Rockies-Black Hills-Badlands Trip Photos
    Photos from the big family vacation for 2016. Aurora got two new Canadian Provinces during the trip (Saskatchewan and Alberta) and three new States (Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota). She is now up to 39 states and the District of Columbia at the age of 9.   • 1st South Carolina in Gettysburg Living History Photos
    The Liberty Rifles portrayed the 1st South Carolina Infantry Regiment during the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1, 1863) during a living history event at the Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania from July 1-2, 2016. Another unit portrayed the 151st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the same engagement.
  • 2016 Battle of Cross Keys, Virginia Reenactment Photos
    Photos from the first day of a reenactment of the Battle of Cross Keys, Virginia taken on June 11, 2016. The second day is for the Battle of Port Republic, but I didn't have time to cover that one. This reenactment was done on the actual battlefield.

    Photos from the June 4, 2016 Volunteer Day in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania that the my cousin Brandon, the family, and I had with the other Friends of Gettysburg members. Brandon and I helped build fences while Kate and Aurora helped paint the names on headstones in the National Cemetery.

  • 155th Fort Washington Living History Photos
    Photos from Fort Washington Park, Maryland taken on April 8-9, 2016. I was there with the 3rd U.S. Volunteers and the Liberty Rifles doing a drill weekend living history event around the 155th Anniversary of when U.S. Regular recruits were stationed at the fort before deploying to other parts of the country at the beginning of the Civil War in April 1861.
  • January 2016 Blizzard Photos
    Photos taken before, during, and after the January 22-24, 2016 Blizzard that hit the Mid-Atlantic region. We received anywhere from 20-24 inches of snow, but also a lot of blowing snow to create some large drifts.
